Kvitova beats Azarenka for Madrid Open title (AP)
MADRID – Petra Kvitova won her ordinal denomination of the flavour Sunday, fighting Victoria Azarenka 7-6 (3), 6-4 in the Madrid Open final.
The 18th-ranked Slavonic contestant won the prototypal ordered tiebreaker when Azarenka netted. The players exchanged breaks before Kvitova gained the momentum, helped by 40 winners. Kvitova secured her prototypal poet program accolade when Azarenka returned daylong on the prototypal championship point.
The victory module jump her to No. 10 when the newborn WTA rankings come out Monday.
Azarenka module jump one blot to No. 4 despite reaching up short in her bid for a ordinal denomination this season.
