Cyclist Keisse to serve rest of doping ban (AFP)

PARIS (AFP) – European track pedaler Iljo Keisse had a doping ban confirmed weekday despite his refusal to accept an initial endorsement by the International Cycling Union (UCI).

Keisse tested positive for Cathine and HCT in November, 2008 but successfully argued that he was not responsible for the banned substances existence in his system.

While the European polity acknowledged his explanation, the UCI and the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) disagreed and appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) which reinstated the ban in July 2010.

Keisse, who also rides on the road for Quick Step, successfully argued to an appeals suite in Belgique that CAS did not hit the powerfulness to ban him, and on Nov 10, 2010 his support was place on hold.

That selection effectively allowed Keisse to vie exclusive within Belgium, much to the interference of the UCI.

However, the European appeals suite on weekday unemployed Keisse's argument, meaning his ban will end on two dates: August 6 right Belgium, and Jan 27, 2012 in his possess country.

A statement from the UCI said: "As a result of its interruption in Belgique from 10 Nov 2010 until 2 May 2011, the fair support of Mr Keisse in Belgique will hold on 27 Jan 2012.

"The UCI would like to emphasise that the jural difficulties concerning the regional covering of the support of Mr Keisse result from his selection to oppose the CAS ruling in added land (in this case his own) than that indicated by planetary jural agreements.

"An attractiveness made in Switzerland would hit resulted in a tentative ruling in July or August 2010, which furthermore would hit had planetary rather than domestic effect.

"For its part, the UCI acted in accordance with planetary jural conventions by virtue of which it reputable the World Anti-Doping Code as well as the role and dominance of CAS and the status of treatment of every athletes around the world."
